“It continues to be my favourite activity"

Dancing with Fiona at Nia classes was probably THE most important, enjoyable and therapeutic activity I did after major surgery. Despite being a yoga teacher I found the physical side of yoga was not what my body craved. Nia was what felt right! The flowing movements, inspiring music and incredible teacher all combined to help me connect, not only to my body again, but also to the joy inside and the strength of my spirit. It continues to be my favourite activity now! Thanks, Fiona, you are an inspiration!

“The best form of exercise I have ever experienced"

I have attended Fiona’s Nia classes almost from the day she started them in Canberra. For me they are the best form of exercise I have ever experienced. So enjoyable that you forget your troubles, aches and pains and just go into your own little world to the wonderful music and movement to match. (Well past her three score years and ten).

“An experience not to be missed"

Fiona has clearly taken her love of, and passion for, movement and wellness to create a fabulous space to dance. I love the freedom she inspires to dance at individual levels and I cannot recommend it enough for all ages and fitness levels. Her Nia classes are energising, uplifting and so much fun. Fiona leads her Nia classes with strength, vitality and humour. It’s the best thing I’ve done in years... I feel energised and fabulous... no turning back now.

"By the end of the class I always felt so much better physically, emotionally and spiritually"

I’ve always loved to dance. It’s one of my favourite pastimes. When I was younger I used to go to nightclubs and dance the night away. Now that I’m a little older that opportunity does not present itself very often. Nia gives me that same feeling of being free and at times wild, dancing with like-minded friends who love to dance as well. When I first came to Nia I had a health challenge and I committed to going every Tuesday morning no matter how physically challenged I felt. By the end of the class I always felt so much better both physically, emotionally and spiritually. I was lifted into a much more positive frame of mind and am always so grateful that I pushed myself to go to class. In my thoughts I would be saying to myself that if I can still do a Nia class then I’m going to be ok. I also love having a cuppa after class with some of the friends I’ve met through Nia and I feel we share a special bond that is nice to have at this stage of my life.

"Fills me with soul-nourishing joy"

Nia classes with Fiona are fantastic. Nia helps me connect with my true spirit. And the combination of music and movement, in a fun, group atmosphere, fills me with soul-nourishing joy.

"Went to Nia this morning and walked away feeling energised, fitter and joyful"

What I love about Nia is that it uses every muscle in your body, in a low impact way, but it is really good exercise as you can do it at your own level and the movements and muscles are explained. I love the music, dancing and movement. The martial arts elements removes all my stress, the spinning takes me back to childlike silliness and I love dancing along to the music and just being in the moment. Nia is a community and you can be young, old, male or female and just be yourself and have a giggle. I twirl, leap and sing, often to my own beat and no one cares. I love Nia and am so glad I found it three years ago. It completes me.
